Dr. Chris Franklin
Dr. Chris is originally from Georgetown, Kentucky. He attended Murray State University where he received a B.S. in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and minors in Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Chris is a 2015 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing an equine internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital he elected to make a career change and pursue practice in small animal medicine. He returned to Auburn, Alabama to be with his then fiancé. He worked as an associate at East University Veterinary Hospital for over 2 years before returning to his home state to start a practice with his wife. Prior to the opening of DVC, Dr. Chris did relief work for BluePearl Veterinary Partners and Mobile Veterinary Services. Dr. Chris’ main goal as a veterinarian is to make sure that all of his clients feel heard, understood and cared for. He wants you to leave the exam room understanding his recommendations and feeling confident in his plan for your pet. In his free time Dr. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, gardening and doing Crossfit.
Dr. Katie Franklin
Dr. Katie is from Louisville, Kentucky. She attended University of Kentucky for her undergraduate degree where she received a B.A. in Chemistry. She is a 2018 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to the opening of Dogwood Vet Clinic Dr. Katie practiced as a relief doctor at BluePearl Veterinary Partners, Corydon Animal Hospital and Jefferson Animal Hospital. She spends a majority of her time working as an associate veterinarian for Mobile Veterinary Services, practicing equine medicine in a practice that is majority racetrack medicine. Dr. Katie will be around the practice and seeing some appointments as needed but will be continuing to practice equine medicine. She and Dr. Chris welcomed their son Levi Franklin to the world on 10.1.19, so both Dr. Franklin’s will be staying busy taking care of their little one! Dr. Katie hopes that all of her clients enjoy their visits at Dogwood Vet Clinic and they feel it is a homey, welcoming environment where they aren’t afraid to ask questions and that they feel confident their pets are receiving the best care. In Dr. Katie’s free time she enjoys snuggling with her baby, horseback riding, crossfit, scrapbooking, hiking and baking. She also enjoys cooking and going out to eat with Dr. Chris!
Alicia is from central PA and later moved to Nashville, TN and she now calls KY her “forever home sweet home” these past nine years. She has studied business, healthcare and interior design. She has spent ten of her thirteen years in healthcare in Oncology as a financial counselor. Always a lover of animals, Alicia has owned cats and dogs her entire life. Also a very enthusiastic equestrian, she started riding again five years ago. She enjoys daily dog walks for her friends and often pet sits for them. Alicia is excited to start her new career in the veterinary field and to work with Dr. Chris and Dr. Katie. In her free time, she enjoys her daily runs, horseback riding, decorating, party planning and enjoy dinner and live music with friends.
Receptionist & Veterinary Technician
Brittany has loved being around animals from a very young age. She is originally from Campbellsville, Kentucky and graduated from Campbellsville University in 2018 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Brittany has worked in customer service for 6 years and is looking forward to helping the people and pets of Dogwood Vet Clinic. In her free time, Brittany enjoys going to Churchill Downs, traveling, watching football, going to Cyclebar classes, and keeping up with her three cats: Jordy, Louis, and Sora.
Haleigh was born and raised in Taylorsville, Ky. She has a blind border collie pup named Birdie and two cats named Buddy and Remi. Haleigh also has one rescue cat named Winston that had eye lid agenesis and trichiasis. She is very passionate about rescuing kittens and finding them loving forever homes. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her boyfriend, family and spending time with her niece and nephew. Haleigh is happiest when she’s helping fur babies, and surrounded by those she loves.
Jadyn is originally from Carrollton, KY, a small town in northern Kentucky. Growing up she was always around animals on her grandparent’s farm, so a love for animals and the outdoors came naturally. After graduating from high school she was unsure of which career path to choose, so she decided to join the Army National Guard. Jadyn is now enrolled at Bellarmine University and is majoring in biology. Jadyn plans to go to vet school after obtaining a B.S. in biology. She loves to spend time with her dogs, Paityn (a husky mix) and Bear (a Bulgarian/Anatolian Shepherd mix), and considers her pups some of her best friends. She also enjoys hiking, fishing, reading, running and spending time with her friends and family. Jadyn is excited to learn and grow from working with Dr. Chris and Dr. Katie and to further her experience in the veterinary industry.
Shannon was born and raised in Louisville, Ky. She has worked in healthcare as well as caring for the elderly and children. She spent 10 years living in Northern Ky while her husband pursued his career and started a family there. She has two children, Lexi and Connor who are her pride and joy, and a dachshund, named Gus! She has been back in Louisville for 5 years raising
her family and is excited to transition back into the work force caring for animals. In Shannon’s free time she enjoys watching her children play basketball, doing anything outdoors in nature, making memories with her children, cooking, and any time spent with her family and friends.
Tori grew up in Oldham County and currently resides on a 20-acre horse farm in Finchville, Kentucky. She recently graduated from Morehead State University with a biomedical sciences degree, completed in just 3 years! While in college, she rode for the MSU equestrian team. Tori grew up with animals and is currently the pet momma of a rescued pit mix (Willow), a rescued black cat (Tray) and an off the track thoroughbred (Linkin). She has 16 years of experience with horses, including riding saddle seat, hunt seat, eventing and dressage. In her free time she enjoys horseback riding, hanging out with friends, drawing/painting, being outdoors and working out.
Natalie is from Shepherdsville, KY, but currently resides in Louisville, KY. She attended school in Evansville, IN at Harrison College studying Veterinary Technology. Natalie has lived her whole life surrounded by animals and always knew she would spend her life caring for them. She has been working as a technician for 3 years. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her rescue puppy Loretta and her cat Videl.
Originally from Louisville, Heather spent 10 years in Lexington where she worked as a small animal veterinary technician, earned her B.S. in Animal Sciences from the University of Kentucky in 2013, and met her husband. Animals have always been at the center of Heather’s life. She began working with rescue organizations and competing in dog sports at a young age and continues to show dogs professionally in her free time. Heather’s interest in behavior science and evidence-based training practices lead her to attain her CPDT-KA accreditation through the independent Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers. She is also a Fear Free Certified Professional, a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and is a Certified AKC CGC Evaluator. Heather is passionate about helping owners help their pets through open communication, education, and compassionate care. Heather and her husband, Austin, are owned and loved by their two Australian Shepherds, Ember and Strider.
